Montpelier Park Commission Records, 1906-1996.

The Montpelier Park Commission Records are a collection of commission minutes, financial data, correspondence and other materials relating to the acquisition and operation of Montpelier parks from 1906-1996. The collection includes the original illustrated plans for Hubbard Park, drawn by Boston landscape architect Dana F. Dow in 1908. Materials relating to acquisition of land for Hubbard Park, Summer Street Park, and the Blanchard Park are included. There is extensive documentation of renovations to the tower in Hubbard Park in 1989-1990.

The Montpelier Park Commission was created in 1906 due to a suggestion in the will of John Hubbard. In that year, Mr. Hubbard willed to the city of Montpelier most of the land now known as Hubbard Park, along with funds for establishment and maintenance of the park.
